ET:Copper, nickle up on industrial demand, global cues
 
NEW DELHI: Copper and nickel prices rose by Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metals market today on pick up in industrial demand amid a firming global trend.

Sentiment remained firm as copper climbed in overseas markets after data showed that demand for new US homes rose by more than forecast in May.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month copper rose 0.9 per cent to USD 7,402 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap strengthened by Rs 2 to Rs 402 per kg. Nickel (4x4) followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,045-1,048 per kg.

The following are metal rates per kg: Zinc ingot 110-116, nickel plate (4x4) 1,045-1,048, gun metal scrap 226, bell metal scrap 228, copper mixed scrap 402, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 133, lead imported 131, aluminium ingots 123, sheet cutting 125, aluminium wire scrap 129 and aluminium utensils scrap 124.
