BS:Silver down on reduced offtake, global cues

Silver prices fell by Rs 208 to Rs 52,755 per kg in futures trading today due to reduced offtake by traders on the back of sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels amid a weak trend in overseas markets.

At the MCX, silver for delivery in July fell by Rs 208, or 0.39%, to Rs 52,755 per kg in business turnover of 14,637 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in September contract moved down by Rs 201, or 0.37% to Rs 54,150 per kg in 3907 lots.

Market experts said reduced offtake by traders on the back of weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand and weak trend in overseas markets, mainly kept pressure on silver prices at futures market.

Meanwhile, silver fell 0.9% to $26.86 an ounce in London.
