NEW DELHI: Supported by a firming trend overseas and a pick-up in domestic demand, copper prices today rose by 0.36 per cent to Rs 421.55 per kg in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June rose by Rs 1.50, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 421.55 per kg, with a turnover of 2,631 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in August was up by Rs 1.40, or 0.33 per cent, at Rs 426.15 per kg, with a trade volume of 793 lots.
Copper three-month delivery rose 0.3 per cent to USD 7,429.75 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange (LME) in early trade today.
Market analysts besides pick up in spot demand, a firming trend in metal at the LME on encouraging US economic data, led to a rise in copper futures prices here.
