NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures stayed lower on Wednesday after data showed that housing starts rose 6.9% in June, but building permits fell slightly. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average SPU2 -0.26% dropped 36 points to 12,701 and those on the S&P 500 index SPU2 -0.26% fell 4.30 points to 1,354.2. Nasdaq 100 futures NDU2 -0.22% declined 6.75 points to 2,580.2.
