EG: Gold gains, silver declines at close
Gold prices gained further at the domestic bullion market on Monday in Mumbai on good stockists' and investors' off-take supported by coming festive season, despite lower overseas cues.
Silver witnessed speculative selling amidst reduced industrial buying.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) advanced by Rs 50 to close at Rs 29,285 per 10 grams from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 29,235.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) also rose by a similar margin to finish at Rs 29,415 per 10 grams from Rs 29,365.
However, silver ready (.999 fineness) slipped by Rs 100 per kg to conclude at Rs 52,660 as against Rs 52,760 last weekend.
In Europe, gold prices dropped on weakened euro reacting to rising concerns over Spain's financial health.
Spot gold prices bid down at USD 1,570.04 an ounce in early trade and silver also bid lower at USD 26.93 an ounce.
