LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets trimmed gains in midday trade on Thursday, after the European Central Bank decided to leave its key lending rate unchanged at 0.75% as expected. Attention now turns to ECB President Mario Draghi's monthly news conference at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. The Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP +0.33% was up 0.4% to 263.52, after trading around 264.04 before the rate announcement. Germany's DAX 30 index DX:DAX +0.33% gained 0.3% to 6,771.51, while the French CAC 40 index FR:PX1 +0.37% rose 0.4% to 3,334.56. U.K.'S FTSE 100 index UK:UKX +0.26% picked up 0.3% to 5,731.48.
