MW:Gold futures lose ground in Asian trading hours

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures fell in electronic trading in Asian hours on Friday, with gold for December delivery GCZ2 -0.34% down $5.30 at $1,614.90 an ounce. The losses for the precious metal came as the dollar index DXY +0.09% edged up to 82.663, from 82.646 in late U.S. trading on Thursday, following an unexpected decline in China's trade surplus for July.
