BS:Rupee recovers some early losses; down 9 paise against dollar
The rupee recovered some initial losses today but was still down nine paise at 55.59 against the US dollar, which has also gained against other currencies globally in the overseas markets.
The rupee resumed lower at 55.57 a dollar as against last weekend's close of 55.50 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) Market and moved between 55.55 and 55.63 against the American currency before quoting at 55.59 at 1050 hrs.
In the New York market, the dollar had gained against other currencies such as the euro last Friday.
Meanwhile, the BSE 30-stock index, Sensex, was down 9 points or 0.05 per cent to 17,773.79 at 1100 hrs.
