MW:Europe stocks inch higher after U.S. jobs report

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets moved higher in afternoon trade on Wednesday, after data showed U.S. private payrolls expanded more than expected in September. The Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP +0.05% was slightly higher at 271.72, up from 271.41 before the data. Germany's DAX 30 index DX:DAX +0.32% gained 0.3% to 7,327.17, while France's CAC 40 index FR:PX1 +0.05% rose 0.1% to 3,416.67. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 index UK:UKX +0.27% added 0.2% to 5,821.85.
