MW:Europe stocks fall after U.S. jobless claims data

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets dropped in afternoon action on Thursday, after U.S. initial jobless claims climbed by 46,000 to 388,000 last week, more than analysts expectations. The Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP -0.13% fell 0.2% to 275.18, after trading around 275.52 before the data. France's CAC 40 index FR:PX1 -0.33% lost 0.4% to 3,513.78, while the U.K.'s FTSE 100 index UK:UKX -0.18% slipped 0.2% to 5,899.78. Germany's DAX 30 index DX:DAX +0.31% rose 0.3% to 7,415.80.
