TH:Rupee recovers to 53.60 in intra-day trade

The rupee reversed its morning losses and was trading at 53.60 against the dollar as inflow of American currency helped the local unit to gain.

The rupee opened lower at 53.77 against the dollar on a weaker euro.

The domestic forex and debt markets were closed on Wednesday. The domestic unit had closed at 53.73 per dollar on Tuesday.

Month-end dollar demand from oil importers is likely to put pressure on the rupee.

Call Rates and G-Secs

The overnight call money rates were trading flat from its previous close of 8.1 per cent.

The 10-year benchmark 8.15 per cent government security, which matures in 2022, was trading higher at Rs 100.12 (yield: 8.12 per cent) from Tuesday’s close of Rs 100.08 per cent (yield: 8.13 per cent).
