The U.K. GDP data is due out at 4:30 am ET Thursday. The U.K. economy is expected to exit recession in the third quarter. Economists forecast GDP to grow 0.6 percent after contracting 0.4 percent in the prior quarter.
The pound showed mixed trading against ts major rivals ahead of the report. While the sterling extended previous session's advance against the dollar and the yen, it held steady against the euro and the Swiss franc. As of 4:25 am ET, the pound was trading at 129.0 against the yen, 1.6090 against the dollar, 0.8094 against the euro and 1.4955 against the Swiss franc.
