MY:Rupee gains 11 paise against USD post RBI policy
Indian rupee weakened against the greenback in noon trade following the RBI policy on Tuesday.
Rupee was higher by 11 paise or 0.21% against US dollar to Rs 54.07 compared to previous close of 54.18 (12.30 p.m.). It opened at Rs 53.99 against US dollar.
The RBI reduced CRR by 25 bps to 4.25% while leaving key rates unchanged in the second quarter policy review.
At 12.34 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 163.02 points or 0.87% at 18,472.80 with 26 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 54.85 points or 0.97% at 5,610.75 with 47 components falling.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.13% to 80.12 after opening at 80.21 (02:54 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.29 up 0.17% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 79.48 down 0.40% (03:04 ET).
