LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets erased losses and turned slightly higher in afternoon action on Friday, after U.S. nonfarm-payrolls data showed 155,000 jobs were added to the economy in December, broadly in line with analyst expectations. The Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP +0.01% rose 0.1% to 287.06 from 286.65 ahead of the data. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 index UK:UKX +0.39% rose 0.4% to 6,068.54, while Germany's DAX 30 index XX:SXXP +0.01% was little changed around 7,753.07. France's CAC 40 index FR:PX1 -0.15% lost 0.2% to 3,713.16.
