The official value of the shekel rose .086 percent, Thursday, in mixed trading against the other featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.723, down .268 percent, while the Euro rose .278 percent to 4.9775 shekels.
The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.9687, down .206 percent, while 100 Japanese yen dived 1.861 percent to 4.1604 shekels. The biggest gainer on the day was the South African Rand, which was fixed at .4248 shekels, up .497 percent, while the Australian dollar fell .632 percent to NIS 3.9144 and its Canadian counterpart was set at 3.7713 shekels, down .309 percent.
