Indian rupee gained against the greenback in post noon trade on Tuesday. Rupee was higher by 27 paise or 0.50% against US dollar to Rs 53.48 compared to previous close of 53.75 (12.32 p.m.). It opened at Rs 53.58 against US dollar. In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.28% to 79.80 compared to previous close of 80.03 (01:50 ET). Euro - USD was trading at 1.33 up 0.38% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 89.28 down 0.36% (01:58 ET). At 12.32 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 26.88 points or 0.13% at 20,128.70 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 7.45 points or 0.12% at 6,089.75 with 27 components gaining.
