MY:Rupee gains 29 paise against US dollar to 53.46
Indian rupee gained against the greenback in morning trade on Tuesday. Rupee was up by 29 paise or 0.55% against USD to Rs 53.46 compared to previous close of 53.75 (09.27 a.m.).
''Rupee is likely to be strong today as foreign capital inflows and government`s recent fiscal consolidation steps are likely to boost equity markets and support the rupee. The downside was limited as the government raised the import duty on gold and platinum from 4% to 6% which could curb high gold imports and help bring down the huge fiscal deficit,`` said Emkay Global Financial Services.
