ET:Sterling falls to near 5-month low versus dollar
LONDON: Sterling fell to its lowest in nearly five months against the dollar on Wednesday as the US currency edged higher while British Prime Minister David Cameron delivered a key speech on UK relations with the European Union.
The pound fell to $1.5802, its lowest since late August last year, with traders saying it was likely to extend falls if reported stop loss sell orders are triggered on the break below $1.5800.
Investors have been wary due to uncertainty over Britain's relations with the EU.
