BS:Nickel drops on subdued demand

Nickel prices dropped at the non- ferrous metal market here today on sustained stockist selling amidst subdued demand from alloy industries, despite higher London Metal Exchange (LME) advices.

On the other hand, tin spurted on good demand from consumer industries.

Elsewhere, select copper and brass also edged on lower offtake.
The industrial metals rose to four month peak on optimism over US recovery, though gains were limited owing to Spanish debt worries.
Nickel dipped by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,110 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 1,120 and brass sheet cutting eased by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 335 from Rs 337.

Copper scrap heavy, copper armature, copper utensils scrap and copper sheet cutting all softened by Re 1 per kg to Rs 486, Rs 475, Rs 452 and Rs 471, respectively.

However, tin climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,465 from previous closing level of Rs 1,460.

Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar both inched up by Re 1 per kg to Rs 497 and Rs 525.
