WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - American service-sector companies maintained strong momentum in January, though growth probably tapered off slightly, according to economists surveyed by MarketWatch. The Institute for Supply Management's index of conditions in the non-manufacturing sector is expected to decline slightly to 55.0% in January from 55.7% in December. The report will be released at 10 a.m. Eastern. Any number above 50% signals expansion. Over the past year, the ISM non-manufacturing index has ranged from a low of 52.7% to a high of 56.1%.
