NEW DELHI: Tracking a weak global trend, copper prices fell by Rs 4.40 to Rs 444.05 per kg in futures trade on Monday as speculators offloaded their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell by Rs 4.40, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 444.05 per kg in business turnover 27665 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in April contract declined by Rs 4.05, or 0.89 per cent to Rs 449.50 per kg in 3511 lots.
Market analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global trend.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.4 per cent to $ 8,170.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
