NEW DELHI: Crude oil futures prices on Friday fell by 0.89 per cent to Rs 5,031 per barrel, as speculators trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in the Asian trade.
The trading sentiment turned weak at futures trade after crude oil prices dipped in Asian trade as revised fourth-quarter US economic growth disappointed, marketmen said.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March shed Rs 45 or 0.89 per cent, to Rs 5,031 per barrel in 21,152 lots.
Similarly, the oil for April delivery moved down by Rs 42, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 5,078 per barrel in 1,961 lots.
Meanwhile, crude oil shed 45 cents to $ 91.60 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
