Indian rupee slightly higher against the greenback in noon trade on Thursday. Rupee was higher by 1 paise or 0.02% against US dollar to Rs 54.71 compared to previous close of 54.72 (1.07 p.m.). It opened at Rs 54.84 against US dollar.
In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.01% to 82.46 compared to previous close of 82.45 (01:36 ET).
Euro - USD was trading at 1.29 up 0.21% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 93.94 down 0.14% (01:50 ET).
At 12.24 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 2.33 points or 0.01% at 19,250.28 with 20 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 3.20 points or 0.05% at 5,815.40 with 36 components falling.
