The ringgit gained against the US dollar in morning trade on commercial buying interest, dealers said.
As at 9.35am, the local unit appreciated against the greenback to
3.1185/1215 from 3.1210/1240 at yesterday's close.
The positive outcome from the US Federal Reserves' meeting yesterday somehow brought confidence into the market.
Meanwhile, the ringgit was mostly lower against other major currencies.
It eased marginally against the Singapore dollar to 2.4942/4968 from Wednesday's 2.4940/4984 but rose against the Japanese yen to 3.2532/2570 from 3.2722/2770 yesterday.
The local currency depreciated against the British pound to 4.7121/7175 versus yesterday's 4.6962/7013 and slipped against the euro to 4.0344/0389 from 4.0223/0265 on Wednesday.
