German Consumer Price Index came in at 0.5 percent on month and 1.4 percent on year in March, easing from 0.6 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively in the previous month. Economists had expected inflation rates of 0.4 percent on month and 1.3 percent on year.
The euro inched higher against its major rivals following the data. As of 8:05 am ET, the common currency was trading at 1.2160 against the Swiss franc, 0.8467 against the pound, 119.78 against the yen and 1.2845 against the US dollar.
