ET:Base metals soften on global cues
 
NEW DELHI: Base metal prices fell for the third day in a row by falling Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metals market today on increased selling by stockists in tandem with a weak global trend.

Sentiment remained weak after copper slipped to the lowest since August, as inventories expanded.

Meanwhile, copper for the three-month copper contract fell 0.8 per cent to USD 7,404.50 a tonne, the lowest since August 20 on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper and nickel (4x4) remained under selling pressure and shed another Rs 2 each to Rs 420 and Rs 1,048-1,051 per kg respectively.

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also enquired lower by Rs 2 each to Rs 119-125, Rs 138 and Rs 136 per kg, respectively.

The following are metal rates per kg: Zinc ingot 119-125, nickel plate (4x4) 1,048-1,051, gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 428, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 138, lead imported 136, aluminium ingots 138, sheet cutting 139, aluminium wire scrap 142 and aluminium utensils scrap 138.
