KARACHI: The dollar edged up against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Friday. It opened the day’s trading at Rs 98.33 for buying, rose a single paisa and closed at Rs 98.34 for buying and Rs 98.39 for selling. The European currency rose against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 125.87 for buying, strengthened by Rs 1.23 and closed at Rs 127.10 for buying and Rs 127.30 for selling. Likewise, the British pound posted gains versus the local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 148.19 for buying, appreciated by Rs 1.63 and closed at Rs 149.82 for buying and Rs 150.02 for selling.
Open market: The dollar rebounded against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 98.85 for buying, recovered five paisas and closed at Rs 98.90 for buying and Rs 99.15 for selling. The euro continued to lose strength against the local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 127.50 for buying, lost Re 1 and closed at Rs 126.50 for buying and Rs 127 for selling. The pound sterling closed lower against the rupee as it began the day’s trading at Rs 149 for buying, fell 50 paisas and closed at Rs 148.50 for buying and Rs 149 for selling.
