ET:Copper, lead prices recover on global cues, industrial demand
 
NEW DELHI: Supported by a firming overseas trend and rising industrial demand, copper and lead traded up to Rs 5 per kg higher at the non-ferrous metal market today.

Sentiment turned somewhat better after copper and other base metals strengthened at the London Metal Exchange (LME) amid concern that miners will refuse to resume work at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc's Grasberg mine in Indonesia after an accident halted production.

Globally, copper gained 0.40 per cent to $ 7,349.25 while lead rose 2.2 per cent to $ 2,172 per tonne at the LME.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and lead traded up by Rs 5 to Rs 413 and Rs 146 per kg. Lead imported also rose by a similar margin to RS 146 per kg.

The following are today's metal rates per kg: Zinc ingot 113-119, nickel plate (4x4) 1,047-1,050 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 413, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 146, lead imported 144, aluminium ingots 142, sheet cutting 143, aluminium wire scrap 146 and aluminium utensils scrap 142.
