Gold futures prices today fell by 0.21 per cent to Rs 28,045 per 10 grams as participants booked profits even as the metal strengthened overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October, fell by Rs 58, or 0.21 per cent, to trade at Rs 28,045 per 10 grams in a turnover of 35 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in August shed Rs 40, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 27,865 per 10 gm in 1,514 lots.
Globally, gold rose as much as 0.20 per cent to USD 1,416.18 an ounce in Singapore.
Analysts said profit-booking by speculators at prevailing levels mainly put pressure on gold prices but metal's strength in the global market, capped the losses.
