After a brief initial pullback following the release of Japan's June inflation report, the yen resumed its uptrend against its major rivals as trading in the Asian session progressed on Friday morning.
The yen advanced to a 2-week high of 98.74 against the US dollar, extending gains from its overnight close of 99.27. The yen also rose as much as yesterday's peak against the Swiss franc, trading at 106.28.
The yen rose to an 8-day high of 152.10 against the pound and a 3-day high of 131.20 against the euro, up from previous day's closing values of 152.70 and 131.74, respectively.
The yen jumped to a 3-day high of 96.06 against the Canadian dollar and session's highs against the rest of commodity dollars, trading as high as 91.53 against the Australian dollar and 79.87 against the New Zealand dollar.
