The ringgit turned weaker against the US dollar at the close today, in tandem with most regional currencies, dealers said.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1820/1850 to the greenback from 3.1770/1800 on Tuesday.
A dealers said the ringgit failed to sustain its footing in late trading today, together with most regional currencies, despite assurance from the US Federal Reserve that it would not ease its asset buying programme this year.
Meanwhile, the ringgit was traded mostly lower against other major currencies.
The local unit depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5577/5617 from 2.5534/5565 yesterday. It rose against the yen to 3.1833/1876 from 3.1846/1892 previously.
The ringgit eased against the euro to 4.3072/3119 from 4.2944/2990 on Tuesday and fell against the British pound to 5.1354/1415 from 5.1131/1185.-- Bernama
