The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar today on renewed buying interest for riskier currencies, including the ringgit, dealers said.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2080/2100 to the dollar from Friday's 3.2215/2245.
A dealer said investors were concerned over expectations that the Bank of Japan would expand its stimulus programme next year, which also saw the yen decline today.
The ringgit also closed mostly higher against other major currencies.
The local unit appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5578/5604 from 2.5678/5703 on Friday, and firmed against the yen at 3.1246/1271 from 3.1469/1514 previously.
It weakened against the British pound at 5.2611/2657 from 5.2604/2663 on Friday, but improved against the euro at 4.3594/3627 from 4.3832/3885.-- Bernama
