BS:Copper down 0.2% on global cues

Copper prices declined by Rs 1.05 to Rs 455.50 per kg in futures trading today largely in tune with a weakening trend in base metals on the London Metal Exchange amid subdued spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February declined by Rs 1.05, or 0.23%, to Rs 455.50 per kg in business turnover of 171 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April traded lower by 85 paise, or 0.18%, to Rs 460.65 per kg in six lots.

Market analysts said the fall in copper prices at futures trade was mostly in tune with a weakening trend in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months traded little changed at USD 7,307.50 per tonne at the LME, while on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, it traded lower at 51,690 yuan (USD8,537) a tonne.
