The rupee was hovering near 3-week low as local shares drag reflecting a regional sell-off on weak China data.
The US dollar was at 62.33/34, its highest since January 7. It had closed at 61.9275/9375 on Thursday. Rupee was down 0.6 per cent, headed for its biggest loss since December 12.
Local shares extended losses, down 1.1 per cent. A sharp selloff in emerging markets accelerated on Friday, setting global stocks on track for their worst week so far this year, with worries mounting over an economic slowdown in China, US monetary policy and domestic political issues from Turkey to Argentina.
The Rupee was heading for its biggest weekly loss in nearly five months, down 1.3 per cent. <
