NEW DELHI: Copper prices rose marginally to Rs 408.35 per kg in futures trade today in line with a firming trend in spot markets on increased domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June traded higher by 65 paise, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 408.35 per kg in business turnover of 188 lots.
The metal for delivery in August edged up by 60 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 404.80 per kg in 4,926 lots.
Market analysts said increased demand in the physical markets from consuming industries helped copper to trade a shade higher at futures trade but metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange, limited the gains.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months shed 0.1 per cent to trade at USD 6,608 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange, while in Shanghai, metals for delivery in July lost 0.3 per cent to 46,240 yuan ($7,451) a tonne.
