BS reported that tracking a weak global trend, copper prices fell by INR 1.80, or 0.44%, to INR 409.25 per kilogram in futures trade today as speculators offloaded positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell INR 1.80 or 0.44%, to INR 409.25 per kilogram in business turnover of 162 lots. The metal for delivery in April traded lower by INR 1.55, or 0.38%, to INR 406.55 per kilogram in 1,590 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to weak global cues as gains in the dollar reduced metal's appeal as an alternative investment. Globally, copper fell 0.50% to USD 6,615.50 per tonne.
