KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 — The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today on lack of demand for the local unit, dealers said.
At 5pm, the local note was quoted at 3.2655/2685 against the greenback compared with yesterday’s 3.2495/2515.
A dealer said there was lack of support for the ringgit with the market anticipating the release of US data later after the long Easter weekend.
The dealer said the local note was lower against a basket of major currencies.
The ringgit depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5997/5038 from 2.5950/5970 yesterday and dipped against the euro to 4.5087/4135 from 4.4952/4986 yesterday.
It decreased against the British pound to 5.4929/4002 from 5.4662/4709 yesterday and eased against the yen to 3.1846/1878 from 3.1695/1730 yesterday. — Bernama
