The rupee was trading strong by 5 paise at 60.17 against the dollar at 3.37 p.m. local time.
The domestic unit appreciated by 11 paise to 60.10 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today on selling of the US currency by exporters amid continued capital inflows.
Forex dealers said a higher opening in the domestic equity market and strengthening of other currencies against the US dollar overseas also supported the rupee.
The rupee had ended weak by five paise at 60.21 against the dollar in yesterday’s trade on fag-end demand for the US currency from banks and importers.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 114.04 points or 0.51 per cent, to 22,559.16 in early trade today.
