MW: ECB staff model 500 billion euros in bond purchases: report
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European Central Bank staff have presented the bank's Governing Council with models for buying as much as 500 billion euros ($592.68 billion) of AAA-rated debt, or bonds rated at least BBB-, Bloomberg reported Friday. The report cited an unnamed person who attended the presentation in Frankfurt on Jan. 7. The governors didn't make any decision on the modeling or implementation of any package, the report said. An ECB spokesman told MarketWatch the bank had no comment on the report. The ECB has previously said it wants to boost its balance sheet by €1 trillion.
