VIENNA – The basket of crude oil used as a benchmark indicator by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, dropped to $50.83 a barrel, the OPEC Secretariat announced on Thursday.
OPEC said the price of its basket, which includes 12 varieties of crude, decreased by $0.09 on Wednesday, compared with the closing price at the previous session.
May delivery of Brent crude opened at $58.18 a barrel at the start of Thursday’s trading on the futures market, an increase of 3.4 percent from the previous session’s close.
