MS: Canadian dollar up slightly ahead of open at Toronto Stock Exchange
TORONTO - The Canadian dollar was up slightly before the Thursday trading session at the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The loonie traded at 79.85 cents US, up 0.09 of a U.S. cent from Wednesday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were down 23 points at 17,806.0, the Nasdaq futures fell nine points to 4,365.80, and the S&P 500 futures declined 3.5 points to 2,072.40.
On the commodity markets, the May crude contract was up $1.10 at US$51.52 a barrel and the June bullion contract fell $3.80 to US$1,199.30 an ounce ahead of the TSX open.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Wednesday up 24.76 points at 15,213.60, extending a rally that began last week.
