U.S. consumer confidence rebounded in August according to a private sector report released on Tuesday.
The Conference Board, an industry group, said its index of consumer attitudes jumped to 101.5, much higher than the expectation of 93.4 according to a Reuters poll.
The July reading was revised to 91.0 from 90.9.
A reading on the present situation for U.S. consumers hit 115.1 in August, the highest since November 2007, compared to the revised reading of 104.0 in July.
The report's 'jobs hard-to-get' index dropped to 21.9 versus the upwardly revised figure of 27.4 last month.
