BEIJING--PetroChina Co. said its profit plunged 62.7% in the first half of 2015 as slumping oil prices weighed on earnings.
PetroChina, China's biggest oil-and-gas producer by volume, reported first-half net profit of 25.4 billion yuan, compared with 68.1 billion yuan in the first half of 2014. The company said turnover fell 23.9% to 877.6 billion yuan.
Total production of oil and gas rose 2.9% to 735.9 million barrels of oil equivalent, led sharply higher by overseas output that rose nearly 40% in the first half compared with a year earlier.
Domestic crude production fell 1.8% to 402.1 million barrels in the first half.
The company announced an interim dividend of 0.06 yuan per share, inclusive of tax.
