U.S. stocks opened higher Wednesday, on track for a third session of gains ahead of the release of Federal Reserve minutes that could fuel hopes of a pause to rate hikes. Rising oil prices along with firmer inflation numbers from wholesalers helped boost investor sentiment. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.77% rose 9 points, or 0.5%, to 1,905. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.60% gained 73 points, or 0.4% to 16,268. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.90% rose 35 points, or 0.8%, to 4,471.
